Gunstar Toy from The Last Starfighter for 3D printing

Gunstar Toy from The Last Starfighter for 3D printing 3D print model

Description

GunStar Printable Version 2.0 . This great bestseller has been improved! New smoother topology, simplified printing layout and stair lift to the inside. Included are .STL .OBJ and .FBX files. No textures or shaders included, not UV mapped, not boned. The glass canopy print can be used to make a transparent version of it if you have the adeguate equipment since is standalone. The entrance and heavy guns parts are hinged and designed to be opened. The cockpit gunner section is designed to be adjastable. Natively for 30x30 cm bed size, but can be printed smaller.

IMPORTANT: NOT to be used for rendersThe model is meant to be printed only, not to be usedin any other way.If you want to use the mesh in a 3d program, including but not exclusive to: renders, animations or game use, you should ask for a project collaboration. Depending on the scale, importance and/or finantial compesation I might accept or decline such collaboration. The 3D printable model is in no way suitable to be used in a 3d software other than a slicer due to the extremely taxing mesh. Please specify the nature of your project and I will take under consideration the proposal. If one or more of the above project requirements are enticing enough I will supplythe rigged and optimised model of the GunStar.

hey there. first ill say i love the model. what i can get printed looks pretty good. however i agree there should be more information provided here. i wonder did you print this? could you post a picture of yours? i have actually attempted to print this twice in 2 different scales assuming that i was the problem. but nothing fits together properly the tolerances between the parts is too tight so im having to Dremel off all of the parts that connect one thing to the other. after reading that the model is suppose to be ~32cm wide i assumed i printed in the wrong scale so scaled it up and it was the same issue. having the width known works only if the complete model was provided in the files to see how that scale relates to my printer but this was not provided, i assume out of fear someone would use it improperly for something other than printing it. so maybe providing the intended mm dimensions of a part that you provided would be something to help set the baseline of how these are supposed to fit into each other. additionally adjusting the male side of parts that fit into one another would be great as well. also some of the files provided have several items in the same file which make some of the parts float above the bed requiring an excessive amount of support to get these to print. so maybe split more or and or check the part heights. really hope to be able to make a complete model eventually. thanks for any support and information you can provide from your print. have a good one.

Hi, thanks for the lovely comments and I agree with you that more info on how to put it together would be a great help, however, making an instruction manual of some kind would take away so too much time to justify the sales. It's a niche product both for the 3D printing and the low popularity aspects. Also, I found using the dremel or other tools to accomodate parts a very common issue in all the models that I purchased over the internet. I'm sure that over the years, other modellers have refined their techniques, but this was made a few years ago. I have made a few iterations to make it simpler to put together, I think this is the third one, so I don't plan to come back to it at the moment, save for the floating pieces issue that you so kindly pointed out. I printed and tested the more crucial parts such as the cockpit to make sure they layed flush on top of each other as well as the engines etc. I hope that the model won't put you off from building it. Thank you and take care

thanks for the reply, and comments. i understand from the point of view cost/time value to make this work out for you. hopefully if that day comes where you could review this model again those adjustments could be taken into consideration. per the intended scale to achieve the 32cm wide target what should be the x,y,z mm numbers of the centre piece bottom from the main column folder. im thinking of re printing it all again this time with a 0.2 nozzle that i got so that i could print the smaller parts. and if there are anymore files you could not mind sharing with me to help me successfully print the model and see everything maybe i can share more comments as a end up finishing it to share with people who want to print this in the future

I share any update on the site. Summer time is coming up, so I should have some time off work to concentrate on some of the models, since I also mean to make a game ready Ragnarok version. Keep you posted

Greetings starfighter! I´ve been selected by the Star League to print this model and defend my home with it´s nerd powers. ;D Amazing model! Can´t wait to start printing. Just one question: Would be possible to merge the glass cage and the cage in one file? This way would be easier to print with transparent resin and later mask and paint the cage. :) (Sorry about my rusty/poor english). Best wishes!

Hi there recruit. The parts you are describing would have impurities left over by the printing process which would be a pain to clean, I've tested it long ago before submitting the model. Thanks for your comment and may the luck of the seven pillars of Gulu stay with you.

Needs an instruction manual, too many small parts. The parts come into the slicer tiny. Need more information on what scale this is.

The size depends on how your slicer is set up, enlarge the largest part in the "main" folder to see how big you can print it as and use the size percentage an all the other parts. Alternatively use your slicer manual. Please learn how to use the software before erroneously commenting.

massive poly count and you have to build it yourself. why isn't there a file with the whole model in? instead of 100 folders with each part in.
