Gandalf's (Ian McKellen) sword Glamdring from Peter Jackson's fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Made by the Elves of old, Glamdring was one of the wizard Gandalf's primary weapons, alongside his staff, which he carried with him throughout his mission to aid the Fellowship of the Ring. He notably wielded it during his battle with the Balrog, in which he used Glamdring to direct attacks of lightning, enabling him to defeat the demon. He also later used it in the Battle of the Black Gate. The hilt features an inscription of engraved Elven runes and a blue jewel .
