Designed by Sebastian Herkner, the Arp Sofa was inspired by the roundness of Sculpture des Silence by Hans Jean Arp. This modular sofa’s shape appears soft and harmonious. Each element can stand unaccompanied, or amongst arrangements with other pieces.For sizing details, please refer to the spec sheet.

Sebastian Herkner studied Product Design at HfG Offenbach University of Art and Design, during which he began designing furniture & lighting and honed his keen sense for materials, colors, and textures. He worked under Stella McCartney in London for a short time, and then founded his own studio in 2006.

Since that time, he has designed furniture and lighting products for manufacturers Pulpo, &Tradition, Gubi, and Linteloo, among others. His works have won numerous accolades, including the IF Award, the Iconic Award, and the Elle Deco International Design Award. As Guest of Honor to imm cologne 2016, Sebastian Herkner provided the design for “Das Haus”. Maison&Objet has elected him 2019 “Designer of the Year” and EDIDA awarded him the same title in 2021.

In addition to the design of exhibitions and trade fair presentations, Herkner's second focus is on designing everyday objects. He is influenced in this by his observations of people and their actions. In this context it is important, to look beyond your own disciplines in order to added value and functionality for the end user. Sebastian Herkner is not so much influenced by trends or current consumer criteria, because what interests him is a collage of simple techniques and traditional materials coupled with a simple mechanical principle and an unambiguous function. His idea of sustainability consists of employing traditional manufacturing techniques and their unique character. He then combines and interprets this by employing new technologies and finishing methods.
