DESCRIPTION

Fredericia Søborg Wood base 1950 - Model 3052

Børge Mogensen introduced the prototype of the Søborg Chair. His fusion of functionalism, expertise in cabinetmaking and use of new production techniques led to a remarkably simple chair that could be manufactured industrially. Merging his signature love of solid wood with his newfound passion for plywood shells, Mogensen crafted the Søborg Chair with soft rounded corners and gentle lines in a timeless design that appears light yet solid, with an ample-sized seat and back to ensure endless hours of comfort.

Description:

Model consists of two textures - Quartered Wood and brushed Stainless steel which are all 3K and 1K respectively. The wood texture was used for the entire wooden part of the chair inluding all other maps along with the diffuse map(normal map, Gloss/reflection map, etc...), the stainless steel texture was only used for the screw materials which is why I used a lower resolution compared to the wooden material for better memory usage in any use case.

The whole model is made up of 4 separate parts altogether to create the entire finshed SØborg chair model, such that seat and lumbar support parts are one object, legs are one object, srews are one object and lastly the supporting braces between two sides of the legs are also their own object as well, reason being for the separation of all of those parts is that I chose to model some of them using subdivision surface modifier while other parts I contructed using other modifiers such as the bevel modifier etc...modifiers are only available with the blender file format as subdivision ready model, and the whole geometry chair is made up of only quads. In case of any questions please do not hesitate to ask, a comment and rating will also be greatly appreciated.

Polygon count:

  • with subdivision 1: 3 912 polygons, 4 224 vertices.

  • with subdivision 2: 9 816 polygons, 10 184 vertices.

Scene lights and cameras left as is for ease of reproducing the same renders/animation if wanted to, all renders were done in blender cycles(version 3.2.0) and STL format was rid of any file errors.
