Rare mid-century arm chair from the 1950’s. Excellent vintage condition, original finish and upholstery.DESIGNER: Dan Johnson MANUFACTURER: KodawoodPRODUCED: 1950sWEAR: No stains or tears, no tarnish on brass, a few spots of exposed stitching in the vinyl seamsMATERIAL: walnut, vinyl, brassHEIGHT: 28 in.WIDTH: 22 in. DEPTH: 19 in. SEAT HEIGHT: 17.5 in.Often incorrectly attributed to Danish designer Ib Kofod-Larsen, these elegant “drumstick” chairs are an early design by American architect Dan Johnson. They were produced and distributed by Selig and Kodawood in the US. Like Johnson’s famous Gazelle chair, this design is light, lean, and elegant. Tapering dowel legs and floating seat panels are bound together by a slender wrap-around brass rod that forms the arms and supports the backrest.
