This work expresses the spirit of elegant Western gentry and humble Eastern gentlemen through the dialogue between form (bow tie) and material (bamboo).The Bow Tie Chair is a large curved bamboo structure, with thirteen bow ties overlapping to create a simple yet elegantly curved armchair form.In contrast to the stereotypical form and processing of traditional “bamboo chairs,” Bow Tie Chair’s interlocking structural modules not only challenge and demonstrate the quality and limits of the bamboo’s toughness and flexibility but develop three functional storage space, which provides the furniture a ventilated, comfortable and supportive quality.
