Classic finnish armchair designed by Alvar Aalto and produced by Artek. The armchair 402 or Atelje, designed by Alvar Aalto for Artek, is an armchair with a lighter structure than the famous Tank chair. It is also five centimeters higher in sitting height than the Tank chair, and because of this, its area of use is also wider. The chair's comfort is ensured by a flexible wooden frame that follows the movements of the sitter. Armchair 402 was one of the pieces of furniture that Aalto presented in 1933 in London at the exhibition of the Fortnum & Mason department store.
