Kaunakakai is a statistically distinct locality and the largest city on the island of Molokai in Maui County. It is a “twin city” with Scottish Embo. The settlement became famous with the 1930 song The Cockeyed Mayor of Kaunakakai, based on the local tradition of appointing an honorary mayor for the town.
