Australia Terrain 3D model

This downloadable 3D model of Australia is built using OpenTopography SRTM 30m digital elevation data and textured with ESRI aerial photography. The model is an accurate representation of the terrain and features a modified mesh terrain that exaggerates the topography.

SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) elevation data gathered by radar system aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour was used to construct the model. The system bounces radar signals off the earth's surface and measures the time it takes for the signal to return, resulting in precise elevation measurements.
