Fujian Tulou is an unique Chinese rural dwelling of the Hakka and the other people in the mountainous areas in southeastern Fujian, China. Reference was used in the creation of one of them – the three stories oval shaped Wenchang building at Tian Luo Keng Village.
First of all, this is a Fort before this is a dwelling. There is a fort, and there is a house afterwards for the first time. That’s why outer wall has 6 feet of thickness for defense from aggressor. Therefore there is only one entrance.
Secondly, why is it Circular? Because a circle has the least blind spots when you look around from the window of the upper floor. And also there are many typhoons, due to the nature of a place of Fujian, the wind blows from everywhere which is advantageous.
