Low-poly historical accurate (as close as possible) reconstruction of an early 13th century belfry (Bergfried) / main tower / big tower from around 1230. This kind of construction was popular in regions under German influence between the 12th and 14th century. A belfry is similar to a keep or donjon in English or French castles, but was not designed for permanent habitation. As this kind of tower is not only part of the defensive system of a castle but also has great symbolic character, the outside wall (in this case) is made from ashlar, while the insides are made from only roughly shaped quarry stones. The lowest floor is vaulted.
