The Las Ventas bullring in Madrid is the largest bullfighting arena in Spain.With 23,798 spectators, it is the third largest bullring in the world. It is also the second largest in terms of the diameter of its ring —61.5 m—.
José Espelius is the author of the Las Ventas bullring, designed in neo-Mudejar style and started in 1919. At his death, ten years later, Manuel Muñoz Monasterio would continue the works until its conclusion in 1931.It is in neo-Mudejar style in exposed brick on a metal structure. The decoration was made based on ceramic tiles, works by the ceramist Alfonso Romero Mesa, in which the coats of arms of all the Spanish provinces and other ornamental motifs appear.
