Castle and Medieval fortress model by Gergely Kárpáti
The model was designed after Burg Lockenhaus (Léka vára in hungarian), a castle and medieval fortress in the Güns Valley in the southeastern part of Lockenhaus, in Burgenland, eastern Austria. The oldest part of the castle is built on a hilltop, and later they expanded the building down along the ridge, so that the base of the building is not flat, but follows the terrain. For the modeling I used floor plans, drone videos and satellite imagery as well as tourist photos. It was originally modeled to manufacture a miniature mock-up building, then enhanced for further rendering. Modeling was approximate, without real measurements.
The model includes the exterior of the building (no interiors).
Files units are milimeters and scaled to represent real-life object's dimensions. Created in Rhino, with V-ray renderer. With modified default materials, and mostly box-texture-mapping.Note: the polygon number is a calculated number after all surfaces were triangulated, you can see the real complexity on the print-screen images.
This model comes as many separated objects on different layers, according to the materials used. For mesh formats it is transformed in Rhino with no retopology. Sun lighting included as seen on the preview images.
