The Public Health Center, abbreviated as Puskesmas, is a functional organization that organizes integrated, integrated, equitable, acceptable and affordable health protection, with active community participation and uses the results of the development of appropriate science and technology, with supplies that can be borne by government and society. Health efforts are carried out by focusing on services for the wider community in order to achieve optimal levels of health, without transferring the quality of services to individuals.
The Puskesmas is a health technical implementing unit under the supervision of the District / City Health Office. In general, they must provide preventive, promotive, curative to rehabilitative services either through individual health efforts (UKP) or community health efforts (UKM). Puskesmas can provide inpatient services in addition to outpatient services. This was agreed upon by the puskesmas and the health office concerned. Nurses provide services in the community, puskesmas usually have service subunits such as auxiliary health centers, mobile health centers, posyandu, village health posts and village maternity posts (polindes).
