Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic, stretching along both banks of the Vltava River and known as the City of a Hundred Spiers. The heart of the historic city center is the Old Town Square, surrounded by colorful Baroque buildings, Gothic churches and the medieval town hall with the astronomical Prague Astronomical Clock, which figures move every hour. The pedestrian Charles Bridge, completed in 1402, is decorated with statues of Catholic saints.
