Honolulu is the capital of the American state of Hawaii, built on the southern coast of the island of Oahu. Many people start their visit to Hawaii here. The tourist center of the city is the Waikiki area with many restaurants, nightclubs, shops and the legendary crescent-shaped beach of the same name. The coastline is dotted with prestigious hotels surrounded by palm trees, and the Diamond Head volcanic crater dominates the horizon. There is a memorial in Pearl Harbor that marks the site of the sinking of the battleship Arizona during World War II.
