May 4, 2024 - I really adore the cute face and design of this highly stylized cartoon model, especially the black and white goth schoolgirl clothes.
It would have been convenient if the seller packed the textures in the Blender file instead of having to import them from a separate folder. To streamline the process, in Blender 4.1, simply go to File, External Data, Find Missing Files, and select the textures folder to automatically apply them. Unfortunately, the model is all one mesh, so if you need separate assets like hair, clothes, or body parts, switch to Object Mode, press Ctrl-A to select all, then press P and choose Separate by Loose Parts. You can then join the relevant pieces by pressing Ctrl-J.
With its low poly count, rendering in Blender 4.1 takes only about 0.38 seconds per frame at 1080p on my desktop setup (Intel i9-14900k, 64GB DDR5 RAM, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super).
It would have been great if the model came already rigged. However, considering how simplistic the rigging is in some of the seller's other models, I actually prefer to rig it myself.
If you're hesitating because there is no rig, and want to skip the lengthy manual rigging process, then I highly recommend Auto-Rig Pro and Voxel Heat Diffuse Skinning addons from blendermarket.com. They work especially well on this model. You'll have an intuitive, easy-to-pose rig in seconds, and you can export it in various formats for Unreal Engine, Unity, Mixamo, and more.
Overall, it's a beautifully designed character that renders quickly. It would be even better if the blend file included the textures, saving us an extra step, and came with a camera setup and lights for immediate rendering. Separating the model by assets instead of one whole mesh and including a rig would also be great improvements. If you're ok with the limitations, this model gets my recommendation; otherwise, wait for a sale.
