Iron Fist (Daniel Danny Rand) is a fictional character, a superhero who appears in comics published by Marvel Comics. Created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, Iron Fist first appeared in Marvel Premiere # 15 (May 1974). The character is a practitioner of martial arts and the possessor of a mystical force known as the Iron Fist, which allows him to invoke and focus his chi. He starred in his own solo series in the 1970s, and shared the title Power Man and Iron Fist for several years with Luke Cage, teaming up with Cage to form the superhero team Heroes for Hire. The character has starred in numerous solo titles since, including The Immortal Iron Fist, which expanded on his origin story and the story of the Iron Fist. Marvel's Iron Fist, or simply Iron Fist, is an American television series created by Netflix and Scott Buck and based on the character of the same name from the Marvel comics. The series is located in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (UCM), sharing continuity with the films of the franchise, and being the fourth origin series that leads to the special Los Defenders. The series is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios alongside Buck as showrunner for the series.
