Phasma was a human female stormtrooper Captain of the First Order. He served as part of the unofficial triumvirate for the First Order and in operation from Starkiller Base, taking over command of the First Order stormtroopers. During the Cold War, which took place 30 years after the Battle of Endor, Phasma served alongside the dark enforcer Kylo Ren and General Armitage Hux in their fight against the Resistance.

Under the orders of the Supreme Leader of the First Order, Snoke, the triumvirate searched for a star map of the galaxy that would lead to the last Jedi, Luke Skywalker, on the planet Jakku. After the sacking of the Tuanul village, Phasma and his stormtroopers killed the survivors on Ren's orders. Later, FN-2187, one of the stormtroopers in his division, had an awakening that led him to betray the First Order, despite Phasma's efforts to refit it. The First Order finally decided to unleash their superweapon, Starkiller Base, an event that led to the destruction of the Hosnian system, where the capital of the New Republic was located, in which Phasma was present.
