Description

Forest Fire Fighter Don is a North American wildland fire fighter character available in rigged and unrigged versions, in one version that is stained with charcoal and dirt, and in another version that is clean, in high and medium resolutions, and in a number of common file formats.

Don is a male with light skin color and reddish blond hair and he is medium in height. He is dressed in nomex pants, yellow fire cloth shirt, white undershirt, and he is wearing a pair of White's timber boots. He is accompanied by a standard set of forest fire fighting tools. These include clean and dirty versions of a pulaski, a forest fire axe, shovel, ember shovel, forest fire rake, and a drip torch. Don is wearing a standard light-weight pack, and the pack includes a plastic water bottle with condensation on the outer surface. To make a complete set of props, a set of burning logs and embers are included in the package.

ADDED: Fully rigged Clean Firefighter in rigged FBX file format.

There are two high resolution versions (dirt - charcoal-stained and clean) in unrigged FBX and OBJ file formats. These versions of the character are provided for people who are not skilled in rigging, skinning or animating a clothed character, and who wish to use Adobe's free Mixamo rigging and animation service (or an equivalent service) to pose or animate this character.

Mixamo (https://www.mixamo.com) is a FREE online service by Adobe that will automatically rig a character that you submit to it, and then allow you to add one or more pre-defined animations to your character taken from a large library of animations. The Mixamo automatic rigging process typically takes less than five minutes to complete. You have the option to download the newly rigged character to pose as you wish. Or you can select an animation, such as a standard walking sequence, and then download your character that now walks within your application if your application supports an animated character. Once your character has been successfully rigged by Mixamo, you can apply and download as many different kinds of animations as you wish, at no charge. The documentation included with these versions of the forest firefighter explain how to use the Maximo service to rig Don either to allow you to pose it, or to create any of the Mixamo animations.

Don, is also available in a partly rigged form in FBX and in Maya file formats. In the high resolution rigged versions, the underlying naked body of the fire fighter is rigged, and the rigging includes constraints for the eyes, hair and boots. This means that if you move the body, the boots will follow along with the feet, and the eyes and hair will move along with the head. However, the clothes and backpack are not included in the rig - these will not move along with the body.

This version of the Wildland Firefighter is provided to people who want a basic skeletal rig with good hand and finger rigging details to start with, but who want to be able to determine which of several methods to use for managing the clothing on the character in response to animation or changes in pose. People who use this version have advanced 3d modelling applications and advanced character rigging and animation skills and knowledge. If you are one of these purchasers, you can import this model into a your application, and then either simply constrain the clothing to the existing rig, or skin/bind it to the existing rig, according to the nature of your objectives.

The high resolution versions of Don's shirt and pants are made of relatively dense quad polygons, so that advanced modellers can animate the clothing to fold naturally upon animation or respond in physically correct ways to wind and fire. Many people will not need this level of detail, so a second set of versions of the firefighter is here in medium-level resolution. (Available in the rigged and unrigged versions and in the *.FBX, Maya and *.obj file formats).

The high resolution versions of the forest firefighter are approximately 37 MB in file size when the 2X and 1X texture sets are included. (Don's skin and the yellow fire shirt texture sets are 2048 in size. All the other texture sets are 1024 or 512 in size. Of course, 4K PBR sets are available upon request.)

Every version includes a full set of PBR textures for that version in *.png file format. (Each full set of PBR textures consists of the base color [diffuse], roughness, metallic, height and normal maps, ambient occulsion maps, and opacity maps where those are appropriate.) In general, only the base color, normal or height maps, and the opacity maps are applied to the the models in *.fbx and *.obj file formats to conserve file size in the zip packages. The Maya version of the forest firefighter includes materials in the most current Arnold shader format.

One full set of PBR textures is included in *.tga file format for people who may wish to use to use this character is either of the common game engines.

ADDITION: After puchase of the Don Firefighter model and equipment, other firefighters of different ethnicities, sex and ages can be purchased for a price of $20/figure. These are rigged figures of medium-resolution in approximately the same clothing. Animated or static-posed, higher resolution figures for close-up view also are available, as are low resolution background figures in a variety of poses. I can produce flaming trees or burning branches, burning ember sets, additional equipment (hand-held radios, specialty backpacks, etc.), and air tanker base facilities and equipment.
