The Lion Thunderzord was the Zord of Zack when he was the Green Thunder Mode Ranger, and then Adam Park when Zack retired, until its destruction. After Tor Ranger used his own energy to restore the Zord, it was given to the Green Thunder Ranger.When Lord Earth attacked Earth and Zordon's team of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, he destroyed the Rangers' Dinozords. Zordon sent the Rangers after the Thunder Crystals and the new Thunderzords, both created by Che-Lonii the ancient Tor Ranger eons ago. However after the arrival of Zedd's brother-in-law Rito, the Thunderzords were destroyed. Tor Ranger awakened from a thousand year hibernation and felt the presence of his Zord (Tor the Shuttlezord which he entrusted to Zordon) on Earth, but not the Thunderzords he had created. Worried he transported to Earth and revived the legendary Thunder Crystals, the power source of the Thunderzords, to repair them. Tor Ranger's actions did not go unnoticed, as the Gorma demons descended on Earth to claim the crystals. Fighting the demons, Tor Ranger sent the Crystals out though the city of Angel grove to find worthy humans with similar DNA, or some connection to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, to wield the Thunder Crystals and become the Mighty Morphin Thunder Rangers.
