Description
  • Highly detailed and super precise 3d model.
  • Created using 3DS Max. The rar archives comprises two sets of scenes: one with a complex muscle system (CAT muscles and strands) and another without it. The CAT muscles enhance overall quality but cannot be directly converted to other applications. Conversely, the version without muscles allows for conversion, export, etc.
  • The entire 3DS Max scene has been successfully converted to Blender. However, you might consider removing unnecessary helper objects that serve no purpose in Blender, such as control objects and targets.
  • Additionally, there are clean model conversions available without rigging and animation.
  • Several sets of textures in varying resolutions are included. PBR, UE4 and fully baked.
  • Within the 3DS Max scene, objects are organized into layers: godzilla_mesh, bones, control_objects, helpers_hidden, and muscles.
  • Initially, the 3DS Max viewports are set to performance mode to help working on slower computers. Switch these settings to standard or high quality (located at the top of the viewport) as needed.
  • The rig for the dorsal plates includes spring controllers intended for a basic physics simulation on these plates. They are located within the helpers_hidden layer. By default, their physics set at 4 iterations. Set them to 0 to deactivate or in case of poor viewport performance/glitches. You can adjust the settings of these dorsal points in the motion tab - parameters - forces, limits, and precision - iterations.
  • Skin have 8 bone affect limit.
  • The hand's IK targets feature custom-made sliders designed to manipulate digits without the need to search for individual bones.
  • The head helper includes custom-made spinners to manage mouth movements and small facial muscles.
  • The 3DS Max scene (and a few conversions) includes a simple test animation, showcasing the model's and rig's capabilities.
  • The poses in the previews demonstrate what can be easily accomplished with the rig in a relatively short time.
  • The model, along with its rig and skin were made aiming to closely resemble a real-world costume as much as possible. Considerations were made, such as the man's shoulders in the costume being lower than Godzilla's, and these were accounted for.
  • The texture Dorsal_plates_mask can be utilized as an emission mask.
  • To achieve 3DS Max viewport results similar to the previews, refer to an attachment named 3DS_Max_viewport_settings, which includes instructions for settings adjustment.

Question, I was looking at a showcase for this model and noticed that the facial animation wasn't very strong. Is that more because of the model itself or can you get some decent facial animation from this model? I mean more than just looking angry and mean all the time.

Hello. Facial animation isn't supposed to be "strong". It's not a humanoid with dozens of facial muscles. In the original Godzilla costume, there was nothing of the sort; there were just simple movements of a few large muscles, that's all. Of course, with them, you can achieve a limited number of facial expressions.

Hey, thanks for the reply, I guess I should say, is there enough poseablity to make Godzilla look convincingly sad or happy?

I watched the videos on that channel you mentioned earlier. The videos look very good, I like them. The facial animations in that channel are different. With this rig, unless you tweak it yourself, it's unlikely you'll get a happy face. There will be variations of neutral, aggressive, malicious, and surprised (but before the attack, haha).

Thanks for letting me know. Anyway looks like I found what I was largely looking for anyway. Still, I might want to use this for a more realistic looking Godzilla video I might wanna do in the future. Thanks again for the reply and have a good one.
