This is primarily a Daz Studio product. You can use the 3D sword + PBR textures in any 3D application, but the included 26 poses requires Daz Studio, which is free to download.
Set up your barbarian scene quickly with this barbarian sword + 26 poses. If you are an artist that design illustrations or covers for books or magazines, this sword + sets of poses can help to improve the speed of your workflow. When you have a deadline there may not be time to spend hours of perfecting a single pose from scratch and gathering reference images. Apply a pose, click the sword into place with the included SwordGrab presets and find your camera angle. Out of inspiration? Apply a pose + SwordGrab, pick a free HDRI-map from polyhaven.com and explore different lighting conditions. Once you are at work with the scene your story grows from there.
For this product I have meticulously crafted 26 barbarian poses for the G8M character (DazStudio Genesis 8 Male). My references have been the classical Conan movies combined with inspiring comic book cover poses. Much time has gone into adjusting the legwork, hands and finger positions to a result that is balanced and interesting from all angles.
With the sword comes four DazStudio morphs that allows you to change the length and width of the blade, the width of the crossguard and the length of the grip. This makes it easy to switch the sword into a dagger, or set the length of the sword to fit your fighting scene. As a result your protagonist can always reach the enemy with his sword, one morph-click away, and the crossguards + pommel can be retracted if they are poking into the body when the character holds the sword close to the body.
I modeled the sword in Blender + Zbrush and created the PBR textures in Substance Painter. I had a blast spending many hours modeling battle cuts, wear and tear into every part of the sword. While I had inspiration from the iconic Conan sword from the movies, I decided to keep the ornamental elements sparse and limited to symbols + cuts from battle. A barbarian sword primarily needs proof-of-battles. I enjoyed designing the runic shapes and my goal was that they should have no discernable meaning. The mystery comes from not knowing what a symbol means; it opens up our minds to the unknown. Wonder and curiosity begins where questionmarks gather. What does it mean? We don't know and that's the beauty.
Every sword/dagger + pose shown in the promo images are applied using this product, even the skeleton poses. Daz have a skeleton character for G8M that function just as the standard male character; you apply the desired pose and click the SwordGrab, just as you would with any other character.
All 26 poses comes with a corresponding mirrored pose. In addition all poses have been designed for 3 different body types:
-- A) Standard G8M
-- B) Scar 8
-- C) Dark Guard for G8M
The content of this product:
1 Barbarian sword 3D model (OBJ format and fully UV-mapped)
PBR textures for the sword in .PNG format + .JPG format.
4 DazStudio Morphs for the sword. With these morphs you can easily change the length of the blade, the length of the grip, the width of the blade and the width of the crossguard.
26 poses (Every pose is mirrored and available for 3 body types).
Addendum:
The terrain is not included and the product also does not include the characters Scar 8 or Dark Guard. I have just made every pose perfectly adapted for characters with their body type, since they have excellent muscularity and work very well as a basis for a barbarian character. The width of a character's shoulders matters because it will determine where the hands end up in a pose that requires two hands on the sword. Having these three body templates will cover most types of barbarian bodies and will give you quick options in a situation where your deadline limits your time.
