Memento mori is a Latin expression that means something like remember that you are mortal, or literally translated as remember death.
This expression was the greeting used by Paulians Hermits of Saint Paul of France (1620 — 1633), also known as Brothers of Death. All memento mori works are products of Christian art. Memento mori were made from the end of the 16th century and during the 17th century.
