Description

Ancient Egyptian Canopic Jars 3D Printable modelALL PARTS IN ONE FILE TO KEEP THE SCALE 100%

The purpose of canopic jars was to store the organs that were extracted during the mummification process, including the lungs, liver, intestines, and stomach. Each organ was safeguarded by one of the Four Sons of Horus: Hapy (lungs), Imsety (liver), Duamutef (stomach), and Qebehsenuef (intestines). During the New Kingdom era, canopic jar lids were commonly adorned with heads that represented these four protectors: the baboon head symbolized Hapy, the human head represented Imsety, the jackal head depicted Duamutef, and the falcon head symbolized Qebehsenuef.

This particular jar, featuring a lid with a human head, most likely contained the liver and was under the guardianship of Imsety. The remaining three jars in the set are labeled as 12.183.1b–d.
