“It has no concrete function, but it is a refuge for the spirit. A place where you can think about your existence. The light falling from above, the surrounding water impart the feeling that you are alive.” - Tadao Ando on Meditation Space (2014)
This is a rendition of Tadao Ando’s ‘Meditation Space’ (1995). I’ve taken some liberties to reflect the cerebral nature of the space.
I’ve been working on this piece for about a week and a half, mixed between 3DS Max, Photoshop and my first foray into Substance Painter. The lattermost is definitely the one I’m struggling with most, but this project helped me jump into it. I plan to take the piece into Unreal for a nice render (and to check out Unreal some more), specifically to work on the way the light moves as per Ando’s description.
