A Proposed Adaptive Reuse of the IDES O’racca Building into a Commercial HubA Proposed Adaptive Reuse of the IDES O’racca Building into a Commercial HubIn recent years, many historical heritage buildings have been neglected and have fallen into disrepair. Many of these buildings are in danger of being demolished or sold off to developers, erasing the country’s history and cultural heritage in the process.Preserving heritage buildings is an essential component of any community’s culture. Not only do these buildings provide a tangible link to the past, but also a reminder of the rich history and culture that has come before us. By protecting and preserving these heritage buildings, we are honoring the legacy of those who have gone before us and ensuring that future generations can experience their rich history.Adaptive reuse is the process of taking an existing building or structure and reusing it for a purpose other than what it was originally designed for. It also offers environmental benefits. By reusing existing structures, fewer resources are needed to construct new buildings. Reusing existing structures can also reduce the amount of material that needs to be disposed of in landfills. This output is made not only to fulfill an academic requirement; it is also meant to raise awareness about protecting and preserving these heritage buildings. With public education and concerted efforts to protect and preserve these buildings, we can ensure that they remain a vibrant part of our communities for generations to come
