The Maiden's Tower has an important historical and cultural value as one of the symbolic structures of Istanbul. Although the exact date of construction is not known, it was built in the 5th century during the Byzantine Empire. it is believed that it was built for defense purposes in the century. The tower, which has been used for different purposes throughout its history, has maintained its importance during the Ottoman Empire.

The Maiden's Tower is located in a strategic location at the southern entrance of the Bosphorus. Being located at an important point of the Bosphorus Strait of Istanbul, it has played an important role for the control of maritime traffic, navigation and defense throughout history.
