Description

Ly Tu Trong was born on October 20, 1914 in Ban May, Nakhon Phanom province (Thailand), originally from Thach Minh commune, Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh province. He was one of the first 8 members sent by Nguyen Ai Quoc to Guangzhou (China) for training (when he was only 12 years old) to prepare for the establishment of the Communist Youth Union later. On February 9, 1931, during a rally to celebrate the first anniversary of the Yen Bai uprising held in Saigon, Ly Tu Trong shot dead secret agent Le Grand to protect speaker Phan Boi who was giving a speech at Lareni square. He was then arrested and imprisoned in the Big Prison (Saigon) and executed on November 20, 1931 at the age of 17.
