This project aims to recreate the National Museum of Roman Art in Merida, in Spain, by architect Rafael Moneo, architectural masterpiece built in 1986.
The 3D model of this museum incorporates the main exhibition area, with 10 perpendicular side galleries identified I to X, on 3 levels (Ground Floor, 1st Floor and 2nd Floor). All side galleries communicate with each other through arch shaped openings on the massive interior walls, at each floor. The sunlight comes from the roof window as well as some south facing windows high up in the walls. The omnipresent bricks mimic the roman art style, but still with a very contemporary technique covering concrete-filled walls. The exhibition area was recreated with the goal of achieving the random color distrubition of those bricks, which was only possible in the 3dsmax version, using very heavy vray proxies that stand for the geometries of the whole brick walls covering mortar material walls. The file in itself is quite heavy and can be reduced to what one needs from the model.
The rest of the model comes from the Sketchup native file with most of the whole building, with remote areas modeled in the simplest way, from the basement (no ruins though) to the 3F. Section and Axonometric views are available in the previews. Dimensions of the overall walls, façades, openings come close enough to give an overall idea of the volumes and organization of the spaces. Every component of the building is classified in hierarchy of layers and there are multiple scenes to analyze different aspects of the model (section cut, perspective view, axono, etc.)
Native file : sketchup 2022 (Render Enscape)Exports : 3dsmax (render Vray), fbx and 3dsAll the textured renders in the previews are made in the 3dsmax file with VrayDenoiser, which doesn't countain roman exhibitions sculptures 3D assets. Those which are present in some renders are only shown to simulate the museum if filled.
Textures used for the walls, ground and wood are present in a zip package.
