Entelodont, often called hell pigs or terminator pigs, were large, omnivorous mammals that lived during the late Eocene to Miocene epochs, around 37 to 16 million years ago. Despite their nickname, they were not true pigs but belonged to an extinct family of artiodactyls. Entelodonts could reach up to 2 meters (6.5 feet) tall at the shoulder and weigh over 1,000 kilograms (2,200 pounds). They had large heads with strong jaws and prominent bony bumps on their skulls, likely used for display or protection. Their powerful teeth and jaws suggest a varied diet, including plants, meat, and scavenged carrion. Fossils of Entelodonts have been found in North America, Europe, and Asia, showcasing their adaptability to diverse environments.
