Bats have long been associated with witchcraft in Irish lore and are often thought to be the souls of the dead. Celtic mythology saw the bat as an omen of death, misfortune, and trickery, and often they were symbols of shapeshifters, ghosts, and fairies. This piece works well as a crucial part of any ominous forest environment. Grey and magenta shading give great effect, lending a realistic and a bit vampiric look. I only use the object and texture files for an OpenGL game, Dark Forest. To this end a mere 2418 vertices makes for a very fast draw. The modeler was receptive to upgrading the object file with 'f' vertices being grouped by body parts, making OpenGL animation possible. A fine example of the vast creature and object work of Roberto Suarez.
