Interesting Facts
The name Megalodon means big tooth in Greek. Megalodon teeth have been found on every continent except Antarctica. Their bite force was estimated to be over 40,000 pounds per square inch, making it one of the strongest bites in history. Unlike modern great white sharks (Carcharodon carcharias), megalodons were much bulkier and had a wider, more powerful jaw. They preferred warmer waters, which contributed to their decline when ocean temperatures cooled.
