Atlantic blue marlin, or blue marlin (lat.Makaira nigricans), is a species of ray-finned fish from the marlin family (Istiophoridae). Distributed in tropical and temperate waters of the Atlantic Ocean, mainly in the western part. Predators hunting in the upper layers of water for fish, less often for squid. They spend most of their lives in open waters offshore. They lead a solitary lifestyle, rarely form flocks. By weight, females can be four times larger than males. The maximum body weight is 818 kg, and the length is 5 m. They practically have no natural enemies.

Atlantic blue marlin is a popular sport fishing target. The relatively high fat content of meat makes it an attractive commercial item in the market. The state of modern populations is assessed as vulnerable due to overfishing.
