Microraptor was a small, feathered theropod dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, around 120 million years ago. It was about the size of a crow, measuring approximately 77 cm (2.5 feet) in length. What makes Microraptor unique is its possession of feathers on both its arms and legs, giving it a four-winged appearance, which suggests it was capable of gliding or even powered flight. Microraptor is one of the most well-preserved examples of the transition between dinosaurs and birds. Its fossils have been found in Liaoning, China, and have provided crucial insights into the evolution of flight and the diversity of small theropods.
