Majungasaurus was a medium-sized, carnivorous theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, about 70 million years ago, on the island of Madagascar. Reaching up to 6–7 meters (20–23 feet) in length, it was one of the top predators in its environment. Majungasaurus had a distinctive short, rounded skull and a single horn on its forehead, along with powerful jaws and teeth adapted for biting through tough flesh. Evidence suggests it may have been a cannibal, one of the few dinosaurs with direct evidence of this behavior. Fossils of Majungasaurus provide insights into the isolated ecosystems of prehistoric Madagascar.
