Maip macrothorax was a large theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 70 million years ago. Discovered in Patagonia, Argentina, it belonged to the megaraptorid family, a group of theropods known for their large claws and agile build. Maip was a carnivore, with a slender body and powerful limbs, suggesting it was a swift predator capable of hunting large prey. It is estimated to have reached lengths of up to 10 meters (33 feet), making it one of the largest known megaraptorids. The discovery of Maip adds to the diversity of large predatory dinosaurs in South America during the Late Cretaceous.
