It is a light twin-engine personal civilian transport aircraft. The Cessna 421 has seating for 6 passengers and crew. It can be flown by one or two crew members. The Cessna 421 uses Continental GTSIO-520-D engines. The propeller is geared to reduce rpm off the crankshaft of the engines. The 421 a models were produced beginning in 1967 and was redesigned and marketed in 1970 as the 421B. Some 421s were modified to accept the turbo prop engines which made them very much like the Cessna 425.
