For the last three decades, the training fleet has been dominated by two aircraft: the Cessna 150/152 and the Piper PA-28 Cherokee, later called the Warrior. Introduced early in 1961, the low-wing PA-28 marked a fundamental change for Piper. The basic PA-28 design has been the template for numerous Piper two-, four, and six-place singles, and even a couple of twins. PA-28-161 Warrior II is a four-place, fixed landing gear landplane, first certified on November 1976. Changes from the PA-28-160 include a tapered wing.
