The Cessna C152 Aerobat was designed as an aerobatic version of the Commuter having a larger engine and a reinforced tail. The Cessna C152 succeeded the Cessna 150 models after 1977 with a better engine (Lycoming O-235 4 cylinder opposed inline) and better climb performance. It was an excellent personal two-seat aircraft and trainer capable of aerobatic maneuvering. It was also inexpensive to operate and an excellent trainer and air taxi. The Aerobat was the introductory aerobatics airplane for many pilots including myself well into the 1990s. The Aerobat has been operational around the world with over 200+ Aerobats being built from 1977 – 1987.
