The Dragon capsule features a classical biconic design, with a large, conical pressure vessel for the crew compartment tapering to a smaller, conical trunk section for unpressurized cargo. A latticework of external struts provides structural support and connects the capsule to the trunk. A ring of Draco thrusters encircles the base of the capsule, providing attitude control and maneuvering capabilities during orbital flight. A separate Launch Escape System (LES) with powerful SuperDraco engines sits atop the capsule, designed to propel it away from the launch vehicle in case of an emergency. A docking port on the forward section allows for connection with the International Space Station (ISS) or other spacecraft. Micrometeoroid shielding protects the capsule from debris impacts during space travel.
