La-5 (original name - LaGG-5) is a Soviet single-engine fighter, created in 1942 by OKB-21 under the leadership of S. A. Lavochkin in Gorky. Produced from July 1942.
The aircraft was a single-seat monoplane of all-wood construction with retractable landing gear and an enclosed cockpit. A total of 9,920 aircraft were produced.
