capun19502020-09-20 14:55:04 UTCIt all depends on your use, for mine the model did not meet my expectations. I imported the 3ds format file into 3DS Max R9 to be used in a flight simulator. Here's some observations
- Polygon count was much higher as posted. It is reported as 82812 with the gears included. It almost looks like a TurboSmooth Modifier was used to make the model very smooth.
- Model is not a 1:1 scale. In 3DS Max I use a 1 unit=1 meter scale, I ended up scaling the model down to around 3 to 4% and the model still was not 100% accurate to spec.
- The gear doors are UVMapped but there is no texture mapped to it
- Way too many textures and materials, which makes custom painting difficult
- I tried to use some techniques to reduce the poly count but it created a lot of distortion in the model.
It is a nice and smooth model but does not fit my needs
Edit: After getting the FBX format file, most of the issues if not all are no longer valid.
The model is now a 1:1 scale, just a couple of faces were inside out, meshes are separated not a single object, materials are properly assigned and mapped. Only the gear doors don't have a texture map applied to them but they are UVMapped.
Overall a nice model, most likely it will fly in the game but because of the high poly count it won't be usable unless I created lower poly LOD's.
