This model is built very near to scale, within a few inches of actual general dimensions. It is a complete update and rebuild from our original model series built in 2006. Updating was prompted by the request of an aviation museum in Australia, displaying an F-111G. They were thrilled with this model and others also supplied by Dreamscape. Much more detail, more accuracy and better flight controls are provided in this 90% rebuilt model. This model is fully textured and has many animateable features including stabilators, flaps, rudder, landing gear retraction and landing gear doors. Canopy can be opened and the cockpit has more detail than the original by far. This model is available in a wide variety of formats.
The General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark was originally designed and built by Convair/ General Dynamics as an interceptor against the Soviet bomber cold war threat. F-111 was a supersonic, medium-range interdictor and tactical strike aircraft that also filled the roles of strategic bomber, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare as well as an air defense strike platform in its various versions. It first entered service in 1967 with the United States Air Force. The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) also ordered the type and began operating F-111Cs in 1973.
