Stratocruiser model here is built very near to scale. Engines are modeled. The model comes with animatable control surfaces, landing gear, cowl flaps and propellers. It is also available in 10 different formats. The model has basic rigging and is ready for animation work. It was developed for video animation for populating airport scenes and in flight video. All textures and materials are included here in a MATEX file with the model. It is available in many different formats. This model was not designed for 3d printing, it is a digital file only.
The Stratocruiser was developed in parallel with the C-97 Stratofreighter after WWII. It was a derivative of the B-29 Superfortress and B-50 Superfortress.Using the same wings, stabilizer and tail as well as engines as the B-50 the Stratofreighter and Stratocruiser had a large diameter fuselage added to the airframe above the wing root. The larger diameter allowed for double deck seating or accommodations. With a range over 4000 miles it was truly a long range airplane, making travel around the world possible. It was however fairly slow with a cruising speed of 300 miles per hour. It began service in 1947 and continued until retired in 1961. Some of these Boeing 377 were heavily modified with extreme fuselage expansions. Called the guppies they were used for transporting large objects that would not normally fit in an aircraft. Some of these guppy versions were still flying in the 1980s.
