Chopper is only a colloquial term for the powerful, sophisticated helicopter. It is slang for the official helicopter in America. A chopper is a tool that uses a sudden blow to cut things. The name of the helicopter is appropriate because helicopter rotors cut the air to generate the necessary lift.
