This is a low to medium poly model of approximately 15000 polygons with as much detail as possible with that poly count. It is built near to scale and includes single sheet texture materials. The materials are all inclusive on a single 2048x2048 pixel file. The model also has landing gear and doors although these are fixed in the extended position. This model is also the modernized version of the MD-11 including the longer wingspan and winglets smaller tail and newer jet engines.
The MD-11 aircraft began service in late 1991 as an improved, more economical and efficient DC-10. It was destined to compete with Boeing 747 SP and the Lockheed L1011 as well as some Airbus aircraft of the same capacity. Delta Airlines began using the MD-11 first in the US. However performance problems with the airframe and engines however stunted sales and caused cancellation of orders. When McDonnell Douglas merged with Boeing the decision was made to continue production of the MD-11 only in a freighter version. However production was discontinued after 1998.
