The Beechcraft 99 Airliner began production in 1966 and was intended to replace the Beechcraft model 18. It was designed to make use of Turboprop engines and carry larger loads more efficiently than the old Beech 18. The Beech 99 was developed from the King air and Queen Air aircraft using parts and systems from both. It also was designed without pressurization. The aircraftr was in production until 1987 when sales were lost to the newer Beechcraft B1900C and B1900D pressurized aircraft with capability for even larger loads of passengers and or freight. There are many Beech 99s still in service around the world, more than half are used by Ameriflight. Almost all are serving in North and South America.
