The MD-11 Airliner was a direct development of the Douglas DC-10 airliner. After McDonnell bought out Douglas Aircraft they ceased production on the DC-10 and made significant design improvements resulting in the MD-11. This aircraft would later be built by Boeing after it acquired McDonnell Douglas. It had a slightly larger wing including winglets and a stretched fuselage for 298 passengers and also had a range of 7130 nm. First delivery was to Finnair in Dec 1990. The last of the MD-11s was built by Boeing in 2000 after it failed to reach its range and fuel burn goals. Eleven cargo versions of the aircraft were produces and many of the passenger versions were converted to cargo and these are still in service all over the world.
The model was built near to scale in real units and built based on drawings, photos, and other documents. This model has a moderately detailed cockpit and the following animateable features; turbines, landing gear retract, ailerons, elevators, rudder, and wheels. These models render very well and look very realistic using good animation, lighting and rendering technique. It can be used in an animated or static position within a scene, animation or animated video, or possibly programming for a flight simulation application. This model was not designed for 3d printing, these are to be used as digital files only. If you purchase one for digital printing we do not guarantee that your print will be successful.Exporting of models is limited but good for several software applications. This model is fully textured with all materials UVW mapped and applied. Most materials are planar mapped and major materials include texturing. All textures and materials are included as shown. Objects are logically named for ease of scene management. No cleaning up necessary, just drop your models into the scene and start rendering. No special plug-ins are needed to open scene. In most cases the liveries are based on actual service liveries or paint schemes. Many of the units, airlines or countries who flew the plane are represented here. Dreamscape Studios is a US 3d modeling firm specializing in building high definition, accurate, and detailed 3D models of commercial, civilian, and military airplanes, ships, buildings and other subjects.Dreamscape 3d models are built in ultra-low to ultra-high polygon count, (most often) near to scale and include a good amount of detail based on the resolution target. If you have a question, error or problem with the model, let us know and we will do our best to provide or get a solution for you. Be advised our models are not designed for 3d printing unless they are advertised for that purpose.
