This model is built very near to actual scale. The model has animateable features including turbines, landing gear retraction and extension, landing gear doors, rudder, elevators, ailerons, inboard and outboard flaps. It is fully textured and includes a lot of exterior detail. This model has been improved and updated (almost completely rebuilt) to be more accurate from our early 3D model built in 2005. The L-1011 model was built with animation and videos in mind. It is also a good model to populate airport scenes as an active or static subject. It is created in Max 2014 and is available in many other formats for your immediate downloading. It could also be programmed to use in some flight simulation programs.
The Lockheed L-1011 was built to be an intermediate aircraft between the medium haul airliner and the largest heavy jet airliners. It would directly compete with the DC-10. The L-1011 was used extensively on continental routes, and throughout the western hemisphere, Europe and Asia by hundreds of air carriers over its long career beginning in the early 1970s. However the L-1011 suffered from RR engine availability and continual maintenance problems. It did have a better safety record than the DC-10.
